|Time:||7:00 pm until the last beekeeper walks out the door! Our main program will be preceded at 6:00 pm by our Beekeeping Q&A session. Bring your questions … nothing is too dumb to ask!|
|Where:||University of Missouri Extension Center, 260 Brown Road, St. Peters, Missouri|
|Program:||Our speaker this month is Virginia Phillips, of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Virginia will explain to us Missouri’s laws on honey sales. As reported at our August meeting, the state has recently begun enforcing a rule requiring any beekeeper who sells honey through a third party to extract and bottle that product in a state-approved “inspected kitchen”.
Virginia addressed this issue at last month’s Missouri State Beekeepers conference in Jefferson City, but her time there was limited, and persistent questioning prevented her from getting far into her presentation. We look forward to hearing her out next week. Please join us as we try and get a handle on just what the regulations are, how we can best comply with them, and, if necessary, what we can do to get them changed.
NOTE: All meetings are held the third Monday of every month.
