Cut comb honey

Postby patrickthebeeguy » Sat Aug 13, 2011 8:59 pm

Last winter a video was shown at a monthly meeting about a way to make cut comb honey in special plastic horizontal frames that you just snapped lids on once they were full. They advertised that way the honey was never touched by people. Does anyone remember the video and where it can be viewed? I can't find it on youtube.

After the video John had commented that it would take a very strong hive to produce honey that way, if that helps anyone's memory.

I was not at the meeting but it sounds like you are describing the Bee-o-pac system (rectangular) or the Ross Rounds system (round). Dadant sells both.

M01580 Bee-0-Pac
[M01580] $56.95

The Bee-O-Pac system consists of eight bee-o-pac frames that fit into a standard 6 5/8" honey super. These frames are assembled from two nearly identical frame halves. One half has eight holes die cut on its sides while the other half has rounded buttons in matching locations. These are snapped together to make one complete frame. After the bees fill the sections they are removed from the hive, the individual filled sections are separated and the lid is installed and the completed package is labeled and market ready. Made of recyclable food grade PET plastic, reduce labor up to 75% from hand cut method.

M01024 8 COMB ROUND SECTION SUPER COMPLETE
[M01024] $62.50
Temporarily Out of Stock

Round Section Super is shipped assembled. Purchase foundation seperately item number F31001. Insert it between section half frames, and place super on the bees. Ship wt. 15 lbs. (Covers sold separately, Clear or opaque.)
