If you don't look into your brood chamber every two weeks because it is too much work to unstack maybe you need a long hive.
I build long hives out of Eastern red cedar cut from my saw mill. They are the size of three deep supers sitting side by side at counter top level. The peaked roof is hinged and the bottom screen board is also hinged for easy cleanout. It will look beautiful in your back yard
Use a follower board to size your hive and crowd your bees appropriately. Manipulate your brood chamber to manage swarming by using the Demaree method. Section off the long hive and use it for a nuc. You will love the versatility.
Best of all….. No more heavy lifting.
Simply remove the frames as they become capped. Here are some pictures of the one I delivered last week.
The hive includes three inner covers, one follower board, a hinged bottom screen and hinged peaked roof. (Frames are not included). Just transfer your deep frames into the long hive and enjoy. The cost is $275.00 delivered to the Three Rivers Beekeepers meeting. My number is (636) 561-0162
